Plan the return before the sale
Most peak-season planning is built around getting goods in and out. The returns that follow often get far less attention, yet that is where duty, stock value and customer goodwill quietly leak away.
Decide the route before the parcel comes back
For each product line, decide in advance whether returns will be restocked in the UK, sent back to the supplier, sold through another channel or recycled. The right answer depends on value, condition and where the goods were originally imported from.
Don’t leave duty on the table
When imported goods are rejected or re-exported, relief or repayment of import duty and VAT may be available, but only with the right evidence. Linking each return to its original import entry is what makes a reclaim possible.
Measure what comes back
Grading, photographing and reporting returns shows you which products, suppliers or descriptions cause problems, so the next season gets better.
